Hi, I’m Lily.

Lily Zhang is a career coach with nearly a decade of experience working with designers, engineers, and researchers at MIT. Most recently at the MIT Media Lab, she worked with a range of students from AI experts to interaction designers on crafting their own unique career paths. She has written over 200 career development articles for online publications such as The Muse, TIME, Newsweek, Forbes, Entrepreneur, Mashable, Lifehacker, and Inc. Her articles focus on the nuts and bolts of the job search (resumes, cover letters, and interviews) as well as professional development (networking, career decision making, and career changes).

In her prior roles at MIT Career Services, she has served as the liaison to students in electrical engineering & computer science, economics, management, and with international students job searching in the US. She has planned or hosted 100+ career and professional development events, connected job and internship seekers with hiring managers and recruiters, and offered direct one on one coaching. In 2018, she developed and facilitated the TBD conference at the Media Lab, where students could develop professional skills, network with alumni, and explore their options without defining them. Though she can review a resume in her sleep, her favorite thing to work on with clients is interviewing.

Lily holds a BA from Tufts University in American Studies and Sociology and an MEd from the University of Massachusetts Boston. When she’s not indulging in a new book or video game, she’s thinking about, talking about, or writing about careers.
