Career coaching for designers, engineers, and researchers.

Lily Headshot 2019.jpg

Hi! I’m Lily,

And I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the most incredible designers, engineers, and researchers early in their careers as a career coach at MIT.

I love helping people explore what kind of work they want to do with their eclectic collection of skills and interests and then figure out how to make it a reality.

When I’m not indulging in a new book, I’m thinking about, talking about, or writing about careers. If your career has been on your mind too, let’s chat!

Not currently taking additional clients.

Work with me.

Career Exploration

Maybe you’re graduating soon and realizing that it’s probably a good idea to figure out what’s next. Maybe you’ve worked at the same company for ten years and decided to change it up. Whatever the case may be, we can plot out your next steps together.

Resumes + Cover Letters

The nuts and bolts of a job application. Love them or hate them—probably the latter—you’re still going to need to get them in good shape for the job search. I am one of the weirdos who loves them. Let me edit yours.

Interviewing

Practice makes perfect. The interview is my absolute favorite thing to work on with clients. With carefully researched interview questions and tailored feedback, improvement is quick and tangible. When we work together, you’ll walk into your next interview confident and prepared.

Negotiating Job Offers

I’m a strong believer in getting paid at least what you are worth—but ideally more. Negotiating a job offer can be nerve-racking, but almost always worth trying. I’ll give you simple steps to follow and practice with you before the real deal. And then, with some luck, you get paid more.

What People Are Saying

“Lily is the best career advisor I've ever met. She is, first of all, super nice and pleasant to talk to. She helped me with questions I had about interview prep and was very thorough with making sure I could practice through the questions before doing it for real with an engineer. She was very calm and clear about my next steps. It was all really reassuring. She is nothing short of fantastic.”

— MIT Graduate Student

“Lily helped me as I prepared to apply and interview for management consulting firms. Her guidance proved invaluable as I reformulated my resume and cover letter around the key nuggets of information that I wanted to communicate to each firm. In addition, I was fortunate to twice have Lily as a mock interviewer. My discussions with Lily about the way in which I answered each question—including verbal and non-verbal messaging—was crucial to helping me refine my approach in the interview process. I am thankful to have had Lily’s support in successfully landing a job and would highly recommend her.”

— MIT PhD Candidate

“Lily is great! She was very helpful in thinking through some of my thoughts and formalizing them into action steps. She was very effective at addressing my concerns and providing me next steps to handle them. She answered all my questions and more. I always find her advice—whether I'm preparing for an interview or considering job offers—extremely useful.”
